We had reserved tickets to a cruise on Milford Sound for 3:00 PM, so we decided that we had time for an easy morning walk. Lake Marian track lies off the Hollyford road, and it takes about 2 to 3 hours to walk up there, but we really wished we had more time up there.

The great thing about this track is that is that it leads just up Lake Marian and nowhere else, which means that its not too developed and is quite narrow, which makes walking more fun.

The first part of the track crosses a swing bridge, which are always great fun to run over.

Once you get up there, its great - Lake Marian is a fantastic alpine lake with some great scenery. The weather was also perfect, there were very few clouds, and there was wind, which scared all the flies away, which all by itself makes for a great day.
